Harpies

Overview

The Harpies are an all-female group of bird humanoids who once lived as fierce hunters under the reign of their demigod Cosette. After her imprisonment and corruption, the Harpies have become cruel and the scourge of Ulthran. Their leader, the Champion Tisiphone, seeks to free Cosette and restore their former glory.

Culture

Competition for survival within the various Harpy tribes is fierce due to food shortages and frequent brood leadership challenges, and members are often quickly eliminated after their fighting ability declines. They were never a race for intellectualism, art, or magic, but what honor they once lived by in eons past now seems to have been replaced by base desires to kill and fight one another. They cause chaos across Ulthran and are generally shunned by other communities who fear their attacks.

Government

The Harpies once followed the leadership of Cosette but, since her imprisonment, have become unrestrained, following the law of survival. They cannot be controlled by the various factions of law and order in Ulthran, and even the Messenger & the Eyes of the Forest face great difficulty handling the various brood chiefs. Tisiphone is the current leader of the Great Nest Harpies. The Harpies are largely unrestrained and independent but will still obey the orders of their Queen.

Physical

The Harpies have humanoid bodies with arms resembling wings and legs that end in sharp talons. Instead of fingers, they have razor claws that can slice through steel like butter. To look at a Harpy is to see all the differences and that despite being Humanoid in shape, they are vastly different from all Humans.

Personality

The Harpies once lived peacefully in Ulthran with the other races. However, since the corruption of their Demigod, Cosette, their wild nature has become unrestrained, making them cruel and cunning. They take pleasure in teasing and hurting their opponents and causing them pain.

Talents

They are highly intelligent, though now use this skill for evil. They have the gift of flight and agility and are excellent hunters.
