Demon

Overview

The Demons are hellish creatures born in the fires and torment of the Malevorum, a realm broken long ago where the dark God Mazaroth turned his children into broken souls. The Demons were left in the Malevorum when Mazaroth departed to find them all a new home. They fought for eons, battling to become stronger while their leader, the Countess Cassandra, watched over them. They would later travel through the Ace Spell breach cast by Gereth to enter the mortal realm. Thousands of Demons caused chaos, death, and destruction until Aldren Brightborn and his champions rallied under the mighty sword Dawnbreaker to drive the Demonic Horde back. With the gateway destroyed, and the Malevorum sealed, no new Demons could travel to the mortal realm. Aldren ordered the surviving invaders to be hunted down, though Cassandra managed to hide herself away. In the Current Age, only Vathrian-born Demons made by Daeros Vikoya exist, though Gereth is searching once more for a way to channel the Ace Spell and reopen the breach to the Malevorum.

Culture

Demon culture is impossible for any mortal to comprehend. What the Vathrian races might consider brutal violence is the Demon's process of how they survived. The Demons of the Maelvorum share much in common with the Orcs of Mt. Mavak as both races value combat as a fundamental aspect of their way of life, though the Demons do so more destructively and horrifically. Honor is not a word that the Demons care to understand.

Government

Though the will of Mazaorth leads them. The God has been gone from the Malevorum for a long time. The Demons have warred with one another for eons, but all look to Cassandra as their Queen and leader.

Physical

Demons are unlike anything seen before in Vathria. They range in size and stature, but all are ferocious creatures capable of unparalleled chaos and destruction. Demons often can be recognized by their blood-red skin that appears to ooze fire and molten rage from within. Some have Demons, though not all, and many Demons have great wings that give them the ability to fly. Appearances can vary; some appear in a humanoid form, while others may appear more animalistic.  Demons are extremely adaptable and able to survive in almost any extreme environment. The Vathrian-born Demons, created by Daeros Vikoya have maintained much of the physical attributes of their former bodies. The Demon Lorella used to be a Faery and as such her demonic form still resembles the shape, form, and wing span of the Ulthrish Faery folk.

Personality

They are generally brutal and bloodthirsty, but some, such as Cassandra and Lorella, are more cunning. Leyline has been found to facilitate the demonization process, resulting in more sane demons. 

Talents

Demons have strong talents in violence, magic, and corruption. Individually they are a threat to be wary of, but when together in large groups, they can make armies cower. The Collapse was uncertain and chaotic as the Demons ran rampant. Had Aldren Brightborn not stood up to the invaders with the legendary sword Dawnbreaker, the Demons would likely have won the war and killed everything before them.
