INTRODUCTION
Under the scorching Torvalan sun humans grow weary of Dragonkin oppression. The cycle of violence and dominance is strong in the region and in the current age the Dragonkin reign supreme. Many humans across the desert resent and reject the teaching and rules passed down by the Sunseer Sect. The religious order, turned de facto government claims that they adhere to the edicts set out by the Human King of the land but in practice the people know the Dragonkin and the Sun Priest are in control. This has led many human groups to rise up and push back against their oppressors. The humans often operate in cells though they are at best patchwork in their organization. In the current age the Dragonkin led successfully by the Sun Priest and Champion Rhazma beat back the uprising and weakened the human rebels to an almost nothing force. However before Rhazma the humans were the most organized than they had ever been previously with a woman assuming command of their rag tag army. This woman was none other than the Champion Narin, and former High Priest of the Sunseer Sect. Since the breakdown of the human rebellion however, Narin's whereabouts are uncertain.
CHARACTERISTICS
Rebel Rebel
The majority of the rebel uprising consist of average Torvalan humans swept up by the furor of disobedience and rage. The Humans and Dragonkin have been at odds in one form or another for centuries and over the years fighting has broken out. Generally these difference generate from inequality, poverty and outright discrimination. Skirmishes however did not last long except in tumultuous periods where fighting on either side became more organized where one or a few pivotal characters were able to whip up a frenzy. Narin's rebellion being the most recent in Torvalan history was one such time where her anger towards Rhazma and the Dragonkin led to her building a community of faithful humans who also shared fury over the Dragonkin treatment of them. Across Torvala Lords, minor nobles and average folk rose up for their own reasons under the banner of Narin and her army. Her personality and power spurred the people into action and they began to take up arms. It was not long for a few hundred to become a few thousand then more. Generals began to form in the ranks and titles gifted by the rebellions leadership. Promises were made to oust the “dragon filth” from their pyramids and the common folk now conscripted into a great army chomped at the bit to engage.
Previous rebellions on the other side were much the same, where Dragonkin dissatisfied with their placement in society enamored them to rise up against the humans in power and push back. Some consider that the Dragonkin and humans in this region of Vathria will never be able to coexist without any form of animosity.
HISTORY
Age of Freedom
Much of the history of Torvala has burned over the millennia however there are scraps of details that be found in the city of Ki'tu at the great library of the sun. These details suggest that it was during the Age of Freedom after the fall of the Gods that the Dragonkin found themselves lost in the sands. The world had been changed with the war of the seven Gods and for the Dragonkin the greatest horror occurred. Many of the Dragons disappeared and the Dragonkin were aimless. They knew not what their purposes were in life without the guidance of Leitos or the Dragons to aid them. The humans of the age used this to their advantage, ensnaring many Dragonkin and enslaving them to work longer and harder to build new human settlements. The Dragonkin rose up and vanquished their human oppressors of the age ushering in way of life in Torvala.
Age of New Kingdoms
The humans and Dragonkin forgot almost immediately how they had worked together when the demons invaded the land. In peace, the kinship and camaraderie was replaced once more with animosity and resentment. The humans rose up and the Dragonkin fell, later the Dragonkin would do the same and the balance of power would shift. The Dragonkin however had learned from their previous battles with humans and began to adjust their tactics. They used their religion, the worship of the sun to their advantage and started an initiative to force a soft power over the Torvalan people. The plan worked and the Sunseer Sect grew. The Dragonkin plan was outrageously simple and brilliant. They began to limit education of the masses to a privilege offered only through their religious order. This method of indoctrination before long converted the large majority of Torvala's humans into complicit and compliant chattel. Humans could become priests within the order but true power and status was never given. The Dragonkin inserted a crown figure in the nation, a series of Kings and Queens who supposedly held within them the blood of heroes and kings long dead from the ages that preceded. The common masses rallied to these puppet monarchs and the Dragonkin with the Sunseer Sect became one of the most successful and dominant organizations on the continent.
The Current Age
Narin, former High Priest of the Sunseer Sect had been tossed aside by the Dragonkin, her rage and hatred grew insurmountably toward Rhazma especially following the events that caused her to depart the religious order. She became a voice of the people having left the order rallying them to rise up against their stronger scaled masters. She implored the common folk to take back their lands and the people began to listen. For Narin however the end came too soon, when Rhazma had her executed. It was only through the grace and pity of the Champion Ghamal was she reborn with a renewed energy for vengeance. She came back at the Dragonkin with the force of ten thousand men strong behind her and she fought with all her might. The Dragonkin were larger and more powerful than the humans, they were brutal in combat but Narin had an advantage that the Dragonkin did not. The humans outnumbered the Dragonkin significantly. Rhazma and his armies could win every battle and yet still lose the war, he unleashed plan after plan to drive back the rebels and found himself failing. Until he came out with the most outlandish and incredible scheme, to use the blood of his own people to resurrect a long held secret hidden deep within the caverns and holds of the great pyramid of Leitos. A dragon. Lord Vadak, a great dragon lay slumbering in the pyramid, hibernating since the time of the Gods and Rhazma enacted a plan to use Dragonkin blood to bring Vadak back. The plan worked and in less than a day Narin's army was all but gone, hundreds of Dragonkin Rhazmadiers took their own lives to temporarily give their life-force to the sleeping dragon. Rhazma succeeded and the Narin's rebellion was no more
The Ages yet to come
The histories of tomorrow are awaiting an author, one who would tell the stories of the heroes and events not yet known. While Narin failed to lead the rebels to victory it does not mean peace has ultimately come to Torvala, it is only a matter of time before another uprising one day takes place. However for now, those stories are unwritten and the outcomes unknown as the looming threat grows larger across Vathria. . .
