INTRODUCTION
House Isdottir are an ancient family line in the region of Mt.Mavak. They came to the cold northern lands and through brutality and bloodshed dominated the other houses within the region. Since then the Isdottir family have gone to extreme lengths to build the nation up despite the difficulties and harsh nature of the region. They founded the great city of Horizon and pushed the people of Mt.Mavak to become a force of war that in the present are a source of concern for the Sentinel armed forces of Sovereign Shores. The House is also no stranger to dark fate and tragedy themselves as in recent years destruction has been brought upon the family and at present the Champion Glacia Isdottir is the sole surviving member of House Isdottir following a brutal event where Daeros Vikoya and current head of House Vikoya slaughtered every member of House Isdottir during a peaceful banquet.
CHARACTERISTICS
Members of House Isdottir across the nation follow the lead of the House Head. They are one of the great families of Vathria.
HISTORY
Age of Invasion
At the time of the first Demonic Invasion, the small but desperate family of Isdottir fled north hoping to escape the flames of war and death. Though they were few they were calculated and upon arriving in the northern lands of Mt.Mavak the heads of the House saw great opportunity to prosper. Their plans to grow came during a great period of uncertainty as the world continued to fight and the people of Mt.Mavak banded together to fight back the hordes of Demons and Orcs that that threaten to overrun them. House Isdottir received great recognition for their actions during the wars, and though they had initially fled the invasion in the beginning they were recognized as great warriors and heroes by the end. House Isdottir had found its place in the world and settled there.
Age of New Kingdoms
With peace returned to the land, the unification of the people began to quickly deteriorate. Petty politics and old squabbles long forgotten soon returned as Houses vied for power in the north. The older Houses claimed greater dominance using their age as claim to the lands of Mt.Mavak. Younger Houses would rise and fall looking to replace the older families. They began to band together with Isdottir at their head. The efforts of House Isdottir during the invasions had not been forgotten and thousands of hardy Mt.Mavak people rallied to their banner in support. It did not take long for the House to overwhelm and defeat the majority of the clans across the icy nation. It was the final family, House Vikoya that proved the hardest of all, as they defended their lands in the desperate determination to maintain power. The heads of Vikoya claimed ancient blood in their veins that gave them the right of control on the lands but they could not enforce their claim on the battlefield. House Isdottir won the war relatively easily and claimed ultimate control of the northern regions. At this time they built the great city of Horizon, unifying all in Mt.Mavak as one people.
The War of the Arcane Gem
Mt.Mavak's famed Frostfort Academy headed by House Falke is one of secrets and hidden power. While most people within Mt.Mavak knew it as a school of magic, few ever saw the inner workings and machinations of the members inside. The Falke family had been repeatedly failing in their pursuits at the academy and the school itself had begun to stagnate. No new discoveries were being made, and their efforts to bring in more students and dominate the world of magic had been overshadowed by those of Falendria Academy in Faymalia. A plot was enacted to steal a powerful gem from Falendria and smuggle it back to the Mt.Mavak. The plan was successful however it did not stop the Elves of Faymalia from accurately accusing Frostfort and by extension, Mt.Mavak's House Isdottir, of theft. The house was unwittingly brought into a war against the elves lasted a number of years, while the mages of Frostfort used the stolen gem to make incredible new discoveries that they would later use in the war effort. House Isdottir were not complicit in the crimes that began the war but they would ensure that their lands would not suffer hardship as a result of the Elven declaration of war. They did the unthinkable and went to the Orc tribes scattered in the mountains of the region with offers of peace and pledges of support. The forces of Mt.Mavak and the Orcs were successful beating back the invading Elves and a truce was ultimately made between Faymalia and Mt.Mavak. It was a tragedy however for the House, as during the fighting the head of the family Naveron Isdottir was killed in battle, with succession falling to his eldest son Jerem. With The War of the Arcane Gem now at an end, Mt.Mavak once more looked to its leaders to guide the nation and Jerem was expected to honor his family name and burden. Jerem as a young man had taken to adventuring and exploring the world falling in love with a Faery, the Champion Lorella, in far distant lands of Ulthran. He pledged to be with her until his dying days, but with the news of his father's death in the war, he left Lorella heart broken and returned home. He returned to the cold lands taking control of the family and marrying despite his promise to the Faery he left behind. His daughter Glacia Isdottir was born and she would be educated to one day lead the nation. This responsibility for Glacia would come sooner than expected however as Lorella, now twisted by revenge and transformed into something far different from a Faery killed Jerem. Glacia being so young, was not ready to take the mantle of the head of House Isdottir and at the time many older and more wise members of the family saw to the kingdom while she grew,
The Current Age
As the years passed since the death of Jerem Isdottir, the uncles and cousins of the family worked hard on maintaining the peace with the various Houses and factions within Mt.Mavak. They were gradually doomed to failure, Jerem's own brother Caris Isdottir was killed by a passing group of marauders during a routine journey to Frostfort to hold talk with the Falkes and Jerem's Uncle Alexander was assassinated in his sleep by an unknown assailant. With these two deaths, a power vacuum was developing at the top of House Isdottir with only Glacia to try and solve the ever growing problems. As she completed her studies and became an accomplished sword fighter, she sought to reunify the people, however this was cut short when she was caught in a plot to remove her from power entirely and discredited. Glacia was imprisoned for the possession and smuggling of arc weapons, magical items that recently were banned by King Abellon of the Sovereign Shores. With her family name now tarnished and Glacia in chains, other Houses began to rise looking to take what power they could. Other members of the Isdottir family grasped at holding the frail peace together but it was at this moment that House Vikoya struck. Biding their time for decades since their own defeat. Daeros Vikoya, now head of the Vikoya family gathered the remaining Isdottir's together for a banquet under the flag of peace. His given reason was to find a way to solve the chaos plaguing the family once and for all by providing them his humble outside opinion. The family made a fatal mistake of trusting Daeros for he slaughtered them all as they ate, gathering his soldiers to execute any Isdottir on sight. In one evening, Glacia Isdottir became the last of her name and the tales of the Scarlet Dinner Party surfaced as House Vikoya assumed control of the north.
The Ages yet to come
The histories of tomorrow are awaiting an author, one who would tell the stories of the heroes and events not yet known. While the plight of House Isdottir seems most grave, there still be hope found in the last daughter of the family. Glacia fights to avenge her kin, however her stories for now are unwritten and the outcomes unknown as the looming threat grows larger across Vathria. . .
